Today's #googledoodle commemorates 100th Anniversary of the #silentparade of July 28, 1917. Sparked by a bloody massacre of dozens of black residents in East St. Louis, the NAACP mobilized over 10,000 black men, women and children who wordlessly (save for bold banners) marched down Fifth Avenue. The demonstration set the stage for future massive American #civilrights protests to come.
